Family movement

Family movement

The summer holidays bring plenty of challenges – routine, screen time and the constant search for something to do – but they also offer a great opportunity: family quality time that doesn't have to mean sitting in front of a screen or another trip to an air-conditioned mall with junk food.

Movement benefits every age. Beyond burning off energy and getting stronger, moving together is a tool for building lifelong habits, strengthening family bonds and improving everyone's health – from the youngest to the oldest!

Family movement

Why does movement matter at every age?

  • For young kids and little ones: movement helps develop coordination, balance, gross motor skills and confidence in space.

  • For teenagers: movement improves memory and cognitive function in general, and has been shown to improve learning and grades.

  • For adults: movement helps maintain bone density, strengthen the skeletal and core muscles, prevent pain and keep vitality and energy.

  • For everyone together: movement releases endorphins, reduces stress and creates shared experiences of success and fun.

From theory to practice – how can you move together?

1. Active trips in nature

Hiking trails (preferably refreshing water trails in summer), family bike rides or ball games in the park in the pleasant afternoon hours. You'll be surprised how much fun it is to play these games again as grown-ups!

2. Movement challenges in the living room or garden

Healthy competition is always good! Build a home obstacle course (jumping over cushions, crawling under the table, balancing along a straight line) or hold a family challenge (how many squats or how long a plank can we all do together).

3. Mind–body practice and flexibility

Movement doesn't have to be fast and intense. Guided practice, stretching and yoga are a wonderful way to wind down together at the end of the day.

How do you adapt the effort for everyone?

The secret of family movement is modular exercises:

  • Work by time, not repetitions: for example, 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds of rest. Everyone does as many reps as suits them, at their own pace.

  • Change levers and loads: while adults can do a weighted squat or a full plank, kids can do a bodyweight squat or a plank on their knees.

  • Playfulness: turn the workout into a game (tag, statues, animal impressions or ball games).

And when you want to level up? Movement at our studio

To keep a strong, healthy and balanced body over time, it's best to combine the different worlds of movement. We believe in an approach that connects strong, flexible and stable:

  • Pilates: focusing on precision, core strength, correct posture and injury prevention.

  • Yoga: connecting breath and movement, improving flexibility and calming the nervous system.

  • Strength training: yes, strength is no longer a dirty word! We recently added dedicated strength classes to the studio schedule. Resistance work is essential for building muscle mass, keeping bones healthy and improving physical and functional transformation at every stage of life.

This summer is a great opportunity to break the routine, move together with the kids at home, and also make time for your own quality time and strengthening with us at the studio.
